Wolverhampton Masonic Study Circle

Welcome to the page of the Wolverhampton Masonic Study Circle.

Who are we?

The WMSC was first formed in October1925 under the Presidency of the R.W. Provincial Grand Master of Staffordshire, the 6th Earl of Dartmouth but only existed for two years. However, in 1973, under the leadership of the late W.Bro. Jack Bryan, PAGDC, PPrGW, the present Study Circle was re-formed embracing its original aims:

"To promote interest in, and discussion on, the history and symbolism of the Craft, not to interfere with the work of Lodges of Instruction or the rituals practiced in Lodges"

Who can attend?

The Study Circle is open to all Master Masons belonging to lodges meeting in Wolverhampton, and we are always happy to receive visitors by prior arrangement with our treasurer / secretary (details below). We also love to receive visitors and do all that we can to make them most welcome. Please contact us via our secretary, details below. We are also currently exploring how we might make some changes to the Circle and would be happy to receive any thoughts or ideas in relation to this.

What are we doing?

We have an extensive range of publications, catalogued and available to borrow administered by our Archivist / Librarian W. Bro. JDM Brooke PJGD, PPrSGW.

The Study Circle has recently started a Reading Group to further explore the range of publications that exist on masonic matters. Please contact us for more details.

From June until August 2015 the selected book was:

The Meaning of Masonry – W L Wilmshurst (1927)

A short write up of our thoughts in relation to this book is available upon request. From September until December 2015 we will be reading:

Stellar Theology and Masonic Astronomy by Robert Hewitt Brown - Parchment Books (ISBN 978-1-909735-02-6)
